</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-AU link="#0563C1" vlink="#954F72"><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Centre Secretaries and Treasurers,<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Many Centres would be aware that there has, in the past, been information circulated by one or more Centres that, because RDA (NSW) Centres are not incorporated, they are unable to apply for certain grants which are open only to “incorporated entities”.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>In all but an extremely limited number of instances this is not correct. If in any doubt about a particular grant, please contact State Office. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>RDA (NSW) Centres, although not incorporated, have been successfully applying for grants that are open only to incorporated entities. The important thing to note is that RDA (NSW) Centres, as branches of RDA (NSW), can usually apply for such grants provided that certain procedures are followed.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Generally, all that is required is that certain information, such as the name and ABN of the applicant are to be those of RDA (NSW), and that the application be approved by one or two directors of RDA (NSW) as may be required under the particular grant conditions. Sometimes, a note of support or a signature from the Board is required. The Board has successfully assisted many Centre grant applications using this process.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Where the terms of a grant are that the grant is open only to incorporated entities, look further into the terms as that does not automatically mean that RDA (NSW) Centres cannot apply for grants.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>In most instances there will be a provision which allows a “head company”, “head entity”, “incorporated entity” or “auspicing entity” (a term that has come to be used regularly in recent times, meaning, in this context, something along the lines of “a company which is able to vouch for, or support, the application”) to support the claim. This would cover, and apply to, an organisation such as ours. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Sometimes this is clearly spelt out, at other times it may be slightly difficult to ascertain. If you have any doubts, contact State Office and a board member will look into it for you.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>If such a grant becomes available, there is a procedure which needs to be followed.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>While the following procedures may appear complicated, as long as they are followed, you will find that they are reasonably simple. However, if at any time you have any question about what is needed, please contact State Office for assistance.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The steps to be followed in these cases generally include a number of the requirements listed below. The requirements may vary from grant to grant, so if there is any doubt, please contact State Office.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><ol style='margin-top:0cm' start=1 type=1><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The grant application must be in the name of “Riding for the Disabled Association (NSW)”;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The ABN of RDA (NSW) must be used (50 001 823 267);<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>If the ACN (Australian Company Number) is requested, use that of RDA (NSW): 001 823 267;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>If the application asks for the type of entity (or similar wording), it is “company limited by guarantee”;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>If the form asks for “Branch Number”, leave this blank as we don’t use this system at this stage;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>If the form asks for the branch name (or something similar), use the full name of your Centre, as in “Riding for the Disabled Association (NSW) X Centre”;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The supporting, or auspicing, entity is “Riding for the Disabled Association (NSW)”;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Unless the application form specifically asks for the following information as it relates to the company (ie RDA (NSW)), use <u>your Centre’s details</u> for:<o:p></o:p></span></li><ol style='margin-top:0cm' start=1 type=a><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Contact person(s);<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Address,<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Phone number,<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Bank account, and<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Other contact details<o:p></o:p></span></li></ol></ol><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-left:36.0pt'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>The reason for this is that if there are questions being asked by the grant authority, it is much better if the Centre answers those questions as the Centre would know more of the details of the application. Also, if the grant is successful, the funds will go straight to your Centre’s bank account.<o:p></o:p></span></p><ol style='margin-top:0cm' start=9 type=1><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><u><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Do not</span></u><span style='font-size:12.0pt'> fill in the details of the directors approving the application on behalf of the applicant (the director(s) involved will do that as it depends on who may be available at the time);<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>During the process, inform the Board about the claim being prepared so that the directors can be ready to assist as soon as possible, especially if time is limited;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>If a letter of support is needed from the board or RDA (NSW), as soon as possible after the Centre has formulated the terms of the grant application, notify State Office and the Board so that the Board can be prepared to write a letter of support for the grant application;<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Once the Centre has completed its part of the grant application, send a copy of the application (or the login details) to State Office so that the director(s) can sign off on, and submit, the grant application.<o:p></o:p></span></li></ol><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>There have been a number of grants rejected recently for no other apparent reason than that steps 1 and 2 were not followed and the description of the claimant was not as per step 4.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Please do not hesitate to contact the Board if you have any questions in relation to the above.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Regards,<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>RDA (NSW) Board<o:p></o:p></span></p></div></body></html>
