[Centres] Important notice for all Centres which have vehicles and trailers

Hello everyone.

 

An issue has arisen that may affect Centres which own vehicles and trailers.
Until this matter is resolved, Centres need to be aware of what has happened
to ensure that they are not affected.

 

By way of background, as you know, in NSW vehicles (including trailers) must
be registered in the name of a person or a company.  In turn, while RDA
(NSW) is a company and all of RDA (NSW) Centres are part of the company
which is RDA (NSW), Centres are not, themselves, companies.  This means that
vehicles and trailers which are owned by Centres need to be registered in
the name of RDA (NSW), even though the contact/address details should be
those of the Centre (with insurance also being taken out in the name of the
Centre which owns the item).

 

Based on information we have received, it appears that when a Centre
acquired a trailer late last year and registered it, as required, in the
name of RDA (NSW), RMS may have altered also the address/contact details for
some vehicles and trailers owned by other Centres to the address of that
Centre.  As yet, we have not been able to confirm the extent of the problem,
nor do we know how many Centres may have been affected.

 

Until this issue is sorted out, could all Centres which have/had vehicle or
trailer registration renewals falling due since mid-November 2018 please
check to ensure that your Centre has received the registration renewal
documents.  

 

If your Centre has not received the documents, could you please make sure
that you contact your local RMS to check the address that they have for your
vehicle or trailer.  You will need to have the registration details when
contacting RMS.

 

To be on the safe side, it is advisable to continue to monitor the
registration renewal dates for any vehicles and trailers to make sure that
you receive the next renewal notice.  Alternatively, you may find it better
if your Centre checks to make sure that RMS has the correct contact and
address details for your Centre's vehicles and/or trailers.

 

Hopefully, not many Centres are affected and that we can have this issue
fixed quickly.
