Rethinking fundraising in COVID-19

In case you missed it, Our Community and Wendy Brooks <https://wendybrooks.com.au/> & Partners have repurposed a report written for the Canadian not-for-profit sector on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic for the Australian context.

The Big Rethink: Fundraising in the era of COVID-19 explores how the pandemic will affect fundraising and philanthropy and identifies six areas of fundraising that organisations should be examining.

The report also offers guidance about responding to shifting donor interest, deepening relationships, building digital capacity and more and is intended to be used over the next few months to guide your planning activities.

Download it here on the Funding Centre <https://www.fundingcentre.com.au/tool/the-big-rethink-covid19-fundraising> .

Pull off a successful fundraising campaign in a pandemic

The pandemic has upended many traditional models of behaviour and fundraising is no exception. LGBTIQ+ group GiveOUT spoke with Our Community about how they successfully adapted their annual fundraising blitz GiveOUT Day, held on October 16. Last year, the group raised $85,000. This year, they surpassed their goal of $100,000 to raise a whopping $147,000. Here's how they did it:

1.	Go hard, go digital (an online presence is a must)
2.	Diversify fundraising using the seven pillars of fundraising <https://www.fundingcentre.com.au/help/fundraising-pillars>
3.	Build and maintain strong partnerships with supporters
4.	Recruit ambassadors
5.	Back up your ask with the facts (want to learn more about how to become data driven? Visit the Innovation Lab <https://smartygrants.com.au/innovation-lab/resources-not-for-profits/data-projects> )
6.	Communicate well, communicate frequently
7.	Register for GivingTuesday 2020 <https://www.givingtuesday.org.au/register> and start planning your campaign

How to build great relationships with funders

Our latest article on the Funding Centre offers tips on how to build great relationships with funders – straight from the horse's mouth.

According to Vedran Drakulic OAM, the CEO of Gandel Philanthropy, and Will Beresford, a relationships manager with Equity Trustees strong relationships require research, communication and a strategic and collaborative approach.

The tips are distilled from a webinar <https://kapara.rdbk.com.au/landers/529535.html> presented in 2020 by Wendy Brooks & Partners in concert with two of Australia's most experienced philanthropy specialists.

That's all from us. We hope you’re keeping safe and well.
