On the Funding Centre

COVID-19 funding trends

We've dived into the Funding Centre's grants database to bring you the latest data on COVID-19 funding trends:

1.	There are still grants up for grabs: More than 500 COVID-19 grant rounds have been added to the Funding Centre since March last year. More than 160 are still available, and while the number of new COVID-19 grants being released has slowed, new ones are still cropping up daily.
2.	NFPs, businesses targeted: Most of the COVID-19 grants are for not-for-profits, community groups and businesses, followed by support for individuals.
3.	Cash is key: While the Funding Centre database also contains listings for scholarships, awards, rebates, subsidies and more, most COVID-19 grants have been cash grants. (Check out CLASSIE's transaction type classification <https://www.ourcommunity.com.au/files/classie/CLASSIE_4.0_Transactions(P).xlsx> for more on the different types of funding on offer in Australia).
4.	Government's handing out the most cash: State and territory departments, and local governments have distributed the most money, comprising half of all COVID-19 grants on offer.
5.	Vic, Qld, NSW the main benefactors: Grants range from $100 to $5 million, however the average grant on offer is $10,000.
