[Centres] Announcement - New Mounted Games Committee and Elected Chairperson

Dear Colleagues,

 

I would like you to join me in congratulating Jolene Grove, Wendy Dunbar and
Marie Purkis who have been appointed to the new RDA (NSW) Mounted Games
Committee (MGC). While I am sure that many of you will know Jo, Wendy and
Marie, I have added a little background for those who don't know them as
follows:

 

.         Jolene Grove - Secretary and Coach at Goulburn Centre. Jolene
fielded 6 riders at the recent MG program at SIEC.

.         Wendy Dunbar - President and Coach at Kempsey Centre.  Wendy is
very keen to promote the Mounted Games.

.         Marie Purkis - Former President at Kempsey and long-term MG
Committee member.

 

The Board of RDA (NSW) is very committed to ensuring that the Mounted Games
are a success; I will act as an ex-officio member of the new MGC and will
help to market the Royal Easter Show MG Event and secure funding to ease the
burden on Centre's and riders families.

 

The new MGC had its inaugural Committee Meeting on Tuesday 3 October 2023,
and have elected Marie Purkis as its Chairperson. Please join me in
congratulating Marie.

 

The work to be undertaken by the MGC as they establish and execute the
plan(s) towards the Mounted Games and Horse of the Year Award will take a
collaborative effort across the RDA (NSW) Centres. The MGC is establishing
an advisory body to help with that effort. If the MGC approaches you to act
as an Advisor please give it some consideration. If you think that you could
help then please contact the MGC via their email address
mountedgames at rdansw.org.au or give one of them a call.

 

Just a reminder of progress so far:

.         we already have the Royal Agricultural Society's (RAS) support for
next year's Royal Easter Show, 

.         the date is set for Tuesday 26 March 2024 (8am-12Noon), 

.         the NSW Governor is locked in to Present the Horse of the Year
Award, 

.         Michelle Kelly (Pearl Bachelor's daughter) is locked in to Judge
the Horse of the Year Award, 

.         RAS has committed to Televise some of the Event, and

.         RAS have offered to carry a story about the MG Event in their
Newsletter which has a 14,000 strong readership.
