Centre Secretaries and Treasurers,
This message is being sent as a notification to those who are new on a
Centre's Committee and to act as a reminder to other Centres who may have
paid, or are asked to pay, NSW Stamp Duty.
The most likely times that a Centre may be affected by a potential Stamp
Duty liability are when taking out insurance policies on RDA (NSW) Centre
assets and the registration of either a motor vehicle or trailer (including
a horse trailer).
If there is stamp duty levied on any of the above, whether it is a new
policy or registration or a renewal, make sure that the Centre applies for
the exemption - use the appropriate exemption certificate in the attachment
to this email (which is also found in the RAM).
Note that if the Centre has paid stamp duty in the past, the Centre may be
eligible for a refund of the amount paid. Submit an application, again
using the appropriate exemption certificate, to either the insurance company
or, if it is a motor vehicle or trailer, to Service NSW.
Let me know if you have any questions in relation to the above.
Regards,
Joseph Orland
Honorary Director, Executive Officer, Finance Officer.
