Good Evening everyone,
Volunteer week is here - A message from our New Chair Greg in the below
email.
National Volunteer Week (20-26 May) is Australia's largest annual
celebration of people giving their time freely, recognising the vital
support that millions of Australians provide to their communities and
encourages others to consider volunteering
I would also like to reiterate Gregs words.
Kind Regards
Tracy Lucas

---------------------------------------------------------------
On this National Volunteers week, I wanted to take some time to thank you
all for your continued hard work. Each day I hear about all your
accomplishments right across this brilliant organisation. I am continually
inspired by your sacrifice, resilience, teamwork and commitment to our
goals. The information I hear is from volunteers themselves, as well as
Centre management. This makes me incredibly proud to be Chairperson of RDA
(NSW).
National Volunteers week is a perfect time to acknowledge and thank our
incredible volunteers and for the work they do. It continually impresses and
amazes me by the dedication and professionalism of our members. We are about
local people helping their communities. From the front end coaches to behind
the scenes members who help do gardening, fund raising, and many other tasks
that help us make us what and who we are, it is a privilege to serve with
you all. This happens day in day out, 24/7 365 days per year. The centres
would not exist without you.
So from the bottom of my heart, a big THANK YOU to each and every one of
you.
I also wanted to send this email to introduce myself formally as a new
Director to Riding for the Disabled (NSW).
It has been an interesting couple of weeks since I was elected to the Board.
The first task was to nominate for a position, and I chose the Chairperson
role.
The reason I nominated for a role of Director was to apply years of
experience in running businesses and twelve years of volunteer experience
with Marine Rescue NSW in a similar capacity. I was also heavily involved
with The Alternative Board.
I think we all can see that there are some issues within the organisation.
Whether these are real or perceived, we need to refocus our attention on our
purpose and being.
During the initial Board meeting, there were a number of topics discussed
and the meeting lasted for three hours instead of the allotted one.
The most pleasing outcome was the Boards approval to pay the funds received
from the Golden Eagle race. As everyone can appreciate, a huge win.
There has been a lot of negativity shown towards the Board over the past
couple of years since I became involved. As chairperson of the Board, I
suggested that the Board become completely transparent and communicate
better moving forward. I certainly hope that this is seen from the Centres
from now on.
There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming meeting on the 30th of May.
In the next few days, we hope to be able to send details as to accessing the
Zoom account. Everyone will have their opportunity to speak, but we ask that
it be respectful.
I can be reached anytime on email as well as by telephone. Feel free to text
or call. I am here for you.
I hope to be able to send out frequent messages to you all
Greg
