[Lifemember] Constitution - rewrite

Hi All

As has always been the way forward any changes to the Constitution will and must be approved by the majority of Centres but the discrepancies and vague references must be removed  and also any input from Centres/Board put into draft form for discussion before a vote

Just to be clear before this goes any further are the board saying that they will have the ultimate decision making control in regard to the SC? I realise you are asking for thoughts but it has always been the Members,as in the Centres , who vote on the acceptance of the SC at an AGM or EGM. I’m hoping I haven’t misinterpreted this advice and whilst I’m a great advocate and always have been for following Pearl’s philosophies I believe everyone would agree that things have changed in 50 years and Pearl, one of the most forward thinking people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing well, would be amongst the first to embrace change and move the Association forward in a fair and positive way.

The brief that has been sent is hard to interpret to centres as it is a list of ideals but no criteria of how this is to happen. I’m not trying to be negative but I think for such a vital document that is the pivotal tool for the governance of our Association it must be the members who vote on the ultimate document.

Whoops one last thing – whilst we will take into account what comes back to us – From speaking to Richard again today in order to provide good governance we need to listen to all but the potential rewrite will be by us as a board taking accountability and a bit of too and froing to agree on the changes the amendments and ensuring they are delivered within the constitution.

I have written a brief on seeking info from the centres via the RR’s and metro centres through their President and secretaries.
