Did you know the Funding Centre website has a page dedicated to financial assistance for organisations affected by natural disasters including floods, droughts and bushfires?
The <https://email.ourcommunity.com.au/t/r-l-tjtdikuk-bjdhduksj-i/> emergency and disaster assistance grant page is available for anyone to access, with no login required.
We have removed the paywall to help community groups in need.
Tip: To find grants to support flood recovery, use the keyword “flood,” and filter by location and eligibility. Stay up to date with the latest information on financial support available to your organisation by visiting the page regularly.

Outcomes for grantseekers 101: webinar recording now available
More and more funders are asking grantseekers to measure the outcomes of their programs.
If you’ve struggled to understand the difference between an outcome and an output or activity, you’re not alone. A <https://email.ourcommunity.com.au/t/r-l-tjtdikuk-bjdhduksj-u/> recent analysis of data from the grant application software tool SmartyGrants has revealed that applicants commonly mistake outcomes for activities and objectives.
With outcomes measurement now required by most funders, applicants need to be able to articulate their program’s intended outcomes to make an appealing case for funding.
SmartyGrants’ chief impact officer, Jen Riley, recently ran a free webinar to answer these questions:
* What are outcomes, and what is an outcomes mindset?
* What's the difference between objectives, outputs and outcomes?
* What's the relationship between a theory of change, outcomes and activities?

Snapshot: how federal budget funds will flow
We’ve summarised new federal budget spending which may flow to not-for-profits.
The spending reflects the new Albanese Government’s priorities in NDIS-related activities, aged care, local government, working with First Nations and CALD groups, rural and regional areas, sports, community development, climate action and schools.
The government has earmarked $560 million for community services over four years, and the Funding Centre will update subscribers with tailored information as details are announced.
Free webinar on climate action
If your organisation wants to do something to tackle climate change, the Institute of Community Directors Australia (ICDA) has free resources to help, including a forthcoming free webinar.
“NFPs and climate change: tools for tackling our changing environment” will cover the challenges of climate change, government responses, the circular economy, reducing emissions and waste, and better management of resources.
The webinar is on at 1pm AEDT on Monday December 5.

Changes to DGR status rules imminent
Recent tax reforms mean far fewer organisational types can claim DGR status.
Not-for-profits wanting to retain <https://email.ourcommunity.com.au/t/r-l-tjtdikuk-bjdhduksj-a/> deductible gift recipient (DGR) status can apply for extra time to register as charities, but they are set to lose the benefit if they don’t do so soon.
Laws introduced late last year mean organisations wanting DGR endorsement must fall into one of the following categories:
<https://i10.cmail20.com/ei/r/F5/7EA/79B/160852/csfinal/PiggyBank_iStock-6109766381-761227a717465d3d.jpg>
* registered charities
* Australian government agencies
* organisations operated by one of the above.
Organisations in eleven existing categories, from school building funds to research institutes, will no longer be able to claim the status unless they are also charities.
The ATO says eligible NFPs have until December 14 to apply for a three-year extension while they seek to meet the new requirements.
Justice Connect’s Not-for-profit Law service has created a <https://email.ourcommunity.com.au/t/r-l-tjtdikuk-bjdhduksj-f/> useful tool to help groups understand the requirements of DGR status and assess their own status.
That's all from us. Happy fundraising!
