Subject: Update from Sport NSW

Dear Lucy

Please see some important updates below from Sport NSW.

ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHER UPDATE

As detailed previously, two vouchers can be combined.

That means that if a person creates the $50 Term 1 2024 Voucher and retains
it, once they create a $50 Term 3 Voucher from 15 July 2024, they will be
able to use the two vouchers to redeem $100 off their fees until 31 December
2024.

Similarly, if a person generates the $50 Term 3 2024 Voucher and retains it,
they will be able to generate another voucher $50 voucher from 15 January
2025, and use the two vouchers together to access $100 off their fees until
14 July 2025.

Additional information we can provide to you is that Vouchers can be created
right up until their expiry. That means that those that are eligible for
Term 1 Voucher 2024 can create that voucher right up until its expiry of 31
December 2024, providing the potential to combine it with a second voucher
from 15 July 2024.

See the table of voucher expiry dates below:

Separately, we have agreed simpler compliance requirements for those that
are affiliated with an SSO. Should any of your affiliates be contacted
requesting proof of qualifications and other items from Services NSW, they
should reply that are affiliated to an SSO and state they understand that is
sufficient.

We also continue to advocate for further data to be released. Currently, we
are aware that 163,432 vouchers have been created with 80,825 vouchers
redeemed.

PROPOSED CHANGE TO CHARITABLE STATUS

The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) is working with the Federal
Government to bring new funding opportunities for amateur sport.

The ASF has identified a potential solution that could unlock, by their
estimates, more than a hundred million dollars a year in new funding for
amateur sports; providing much-needed resources to support grassroots
initiatives, improve facilities, and run development programs across the
nation.

By amending the Charities Act 2013, and achieving charitable status for
amateur sport and athletes, the ASF believes it could unlock over $103
million in philanthropic funding a year for the sector by 2030.

However, charitable status would have practical implications for affected
clubs and these implications need to be fully considered before progressing
with such a change.

Please find here
<https://www.datocms-assets.com/102439/1716776110-charitable-status-discussi
on-paper.pdf> a discussion paper with more information about this proposed
change.

We have met with the ASF on this topic several times and we have encouraged
the ASF to engage with us and SSOs to seek input and feedback.

Two briefings have been scheduled for Sydney:

*	A briefing for key staff of SSOs on 12 June 2024 from 9.30am -
11.30am. Register here <https://events.humanitix.com/keystaff/tickets>
*	A briefing with networking drinks for CEOs on 12 June 2024 from 4pm
- 7.30pm. Register here
<https://events.humanitix.com/asfceobriefing/tickets>

Both briefings will take place at Deloitte Sydney - Level 46, Quay Quarter
Tower, 50 Bridge St, Sydney

I encourage you to attend and will keep you informed on any progress.

DE-ESCALATION AND OCCUPATIONAL VIOLENCE AND AGGRESSION TRAINING

As part of our recommendations formed through the Fair Play Network we have
organised a pilot course on De-escalation and Occupational Violence and
Aggression training.

We have organised a free pilot course to develop vital skills in managing
challenging behaviours from a variety of stakeholders. Should the feedback
from this pilot be positive we aim to expand it.

De-escalating challenging behaviour is critical to building a robust and
safe environment that protects everyone involved in sport. This course will
develop vital skills in managing challenging behaviours from a variety of
stakeholders.

Participant Outcomes include:

*	Enhanced situational awareness
*	Recognising early signs of escalating situations
*	Manage emotions and communicate effectively in aggressive situations
*	Implement de-escalation strategies while maintaining composure
*	Enhance confidence in managing aggressive situations
*	Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication in aggressive
situations
*	Learn how to address different types of aggressors, including those
influenced by drugs or alcohol.

There are two courses available and a maximum of 25 places in each course.

*	Session 1 - Friday 21 June 2024, 9am-12.30pm - Limited places remain
Register here
*	Session 2 - Friday 21 June 2024, 1.30pm - 5.00pm - Register here

Both sessions will take place at Level 2 Meeting Room, Sports House, 8
Parkview Dr, Sydney Olympic Park.

Feel free to share this opportunity with relevant staff.
