RDA (NSW) Volunteers

Do you want to be a Volunteer with RDA (NSW)? Do you know someone who wants to Volunteer? Help to lead our horses or assist riders. Lend a hand throughout the grounds at your local RDA (NSW) centre. Why not help at fundraising events or functions? Whatever your talent, we can use it!

Volunteers don’t need any prior knowledge of horses, they learn on the job. Tasks may be horse and non horse related including making cups of tea, assisting riders to prepare for their lesson and helping with activities in lessons.

All volunteers, coaches, riders are asked to adhere to a Code of Conduct. All volunteers must hold a current Working with Children Check number (WWCC).

Contact your local centre and ask about volunteering. You will receive training when you attend a centre.

You can also contact the state office of  RDA (NSW)  and we will forward your enquiry the centre closest to you.

More than 1,500 volunteers are needed to run RDA (NSW) and our Centres.

I started volunteering with RDA in 2016, not having had any experience working with horses or kids. On day 1 I was involved in the arena supporting the riders, learning how to lead the horses and meeting some amazing kids and people. To watch the riders gain so much confidence and enjoyment and to see how patient and calm the horses are is very rewarding. I am so glad I made the decision to become a volunteer. I still have so much to learn and experience, so on a personal level, my time with RDA has been very worthwhile. – KG
